The refined blended kaolin slurry is transferred from the kaolin operations area to the calciner plant where it is filter pressed to produce a plastic kaolin feed. Extruded blocks are stacked onto kiln cars, dried in a tunnel drier and subsequently fired in a tunnel kiln to a peak temperature above 1500°C.
After calcination the blocks are fed into a crushing and grading complex which produces a standard range of aggregates. A range of flours are produced using ball mills loaded with high density alumina grinding media
Molochite is packed in either 25kg bags or 1.2 tonne Intermediate Bulk containers (IBCs) prior to shrink wrapping and transfer to the finished product store.
