With a staff of approximately 240 scientists and technologists, Imerys is engaged in applied research, product development and investigation of mineral applications at laboratories in South West England, Brazil and Georgia, USA. The latest testing and analytical techniges and equipment are employed in these state-of-the-art facilities.

Imerys' R&D resources are focussed on specific industries, ensuring in-depth expertise and a single-minded concentration on customer solutions. The aim is to develop the most efficient processes to produce the most effective materials for each application, backed up by the best possible technical service and advice. Imerys works extensively with universities and external institutes in europe and the USA to ensure it draws on knowledge and expertise at the forefront of technology.

Each year the Molochite Division supports R&D projects at the CARRD (Centre for Abrasives and Refractories Research & Development).
